Overview
Andy has his own international health & safety practice, Management & Safety Training Ltd. He is a highly experienced consultant and trainer, including accreditation with both NEBOSH and IOSH as a tutor, and holds formal qualifications in both the health & safety and training sectors.
Prior to entering the health & safety sector he was a specialist investigator with two elite UK law enforcement agencies, and his investigative skills have proven extremely valuable when undertaking industrial accident investigations.
He is a Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (FIIRSM); a chartered safety & health practitioner (CMIOSH); a member of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators (MIIAI); a member of the Institute for Leadership & Management (MInstLM); and a member of the UK Occupational Safety & Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).
He has a proven track record in fields as diverse as industrial accident investigations, lone worker safety management, construction safety, and health & safety training.
Current projects include:
- Being commissioned by the Ambulance Service College, Irish National Ambulance Service, to write & present a training course for paramedics (both trainee and advanced) on critical decision making
- Writing a book/ developing an accompanying course on health & safety essentials for the professional HR market
- Presenting a series of 1/2 day webinars on safety management topics for IPI Academy
- Providing training as an associate lecturer with the European Risk Management School based in Warsaw
He is happy to offer his consultancy services on either an ad hoc or consultancy basis. Assignments can be undertaken (with prior discussion) on a local, national or international basis.

General consultancy
Andy has worked within a range of sectors providing unbiaised health & safety management advice and support to staff at all levels, from supervisors to the Board of Directors.
Latest projects (2022) include designing/ presenting courses on critical decision-making to student paramedics at the Irish National Ambulance Service College, and being asked to join the European Risk Management School (based in Warsaw) as an associate lecturer.
Investigations
Andy is a qualified industrial accident investigator and has been involved in enquiries ranging from the causes of a building collapse in London to a serious hydraulics failure in the waste management sector and a construction accident in which an employee was critically injured by a reversing vehicle.
His expertise as an accident investigator benefits greatly from his years as a specialist law enforcement investigator with both HM Customs & Excise (Investigation Division) and No7 Regional Crime Squad.
Accredited Training
Andy is accredited and experienced as a trainer with both IOSH and NEBOSH.
In addition he was formerly an accredited NEBOSH examiner for their National and International General Certificate courses
Bespoke Training
Andy is formally qualified in the field of Learning & Development and so can devise bespoke training tailored to meet the client's precise needs.
An example of this skillset is the fact that he has designed, written and presented a training course for directors on accident scene management. The course will be offered in a variety of formats including e-learning and DVD
Management of lone worker safety
Andy has a great deal of practical experience in this field which stems from his time as a manager/ insructor with the manned guarding sector.
He has advised numerous clients on the management of lone worker safety (including an NHS Trust) and - at the request of a client - wrote a managers' handbook on the subject.

Further Information
Andy is not only a Fellow of the IIRSM and a chartered member of IOSH, but he is also a Member of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators. He was awarded full membership of the IIAI in December 2013.
His professional qualifications include Lead Accident Investigator (IIAI); ISO 9001 Lead Auditor; and OSHAS 18001 Internal Auditor.
