I have over 36 years’ experience with man-management (including leading teams & directing personnel during emergency situations), health & safety, fire safety, environmental management, quality management, have interacted with all levels of staff and regulatory bodies, chaired meetings, produced KPI’s, delivered training, given presentations, etc.
I'm a Chartered Fellow Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CFIOSH), Fellow Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (FIIRSM), Registered Safety Practitioner (RSP), Member of the Occupational Safety & Health Consultants Register (OSHCR), Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), Fellow of the Institution of Leadership (FIoL) and Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE). I maintain my Continuing Professional Development with IOSH & IIRSM.

My Safety, Health, Fire and Environmental career dates to 1983 and I have an array of academic qualifications, including a Master of Science Degree (M.Sc.) in Safety, Health & Environmental Management (Passed with a Distinction). In addition to regular qualifications, my specialist training & qualifications include: advanced risk assessment, advanced PHAST, advanced fire safety, food safety, licensed business activities & Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
My experience has been enhanced within a multi-installation chemical manufacturing and steel manufacturing sites. Key roles included activities, processes, etc. governed by the COMAH Regulations, including management of ‘safety report’, chairing meetings, facilitating HAZOP’s, Management of Change, interaction with the HSE, EA, the CA and Fire & Rescue Services. Construction experience includes: Installations of; chemical plant, power plant, nitrogen plant, etc., Assessment of construction related businesses and Construction Phase H&S Plans against the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) core criteria, an M.Sc. course module was ‘business law’ and focused on the construction industry (passed with a Distinction), and the IRCA SSIP assessor course is exam based and focuses on the CDM core criteria.
I have over 15 years’ experience with SSIP applications (e.g. CHAS, SAFEcontractor) and have assessed ~3000 companies. While I don't provide any guarantees to SME’s, I’m confident with your full co-operation and commitment, I can assist you to gain SSIP accreditation. (100% pass rate)
I volunteer with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) as an IPD CPD auditor; rolling CPD auditor; Peer Review Panel Member (CMIOSH and CFIOSH), a Mentor for Grad IOSH, CMIOSH and CFIOSH members, and mark portfolios for CMIOSH members looking to progress to CFIOSH status.

General consultancy
We can provide your business with ‘competent’ corporate, construction and fire safety advice, and by choosing us to be your source of ‘competent’ advice, you are assured of the highest professional conduct at all times.
Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations requires that a business (for profit and not for profit) appoints a “competent person”. If the business does not have an employee who is the “competent person” it must appoint someone external to the organisation to provide that assistance.
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (8)(1) requires allocation of sufficient resources, such as a competent person.
Part 2 (18) of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order requires that a ‘competent person’ be appointed.
