- Until recently, sat on the Management Board of the British Occupational Hygiene Society & HSE Workgroup on COSHH Essentials.
- Over 35 Years industrial experience gained in paint / chemicals, ship repair & oil / gas engineering in Europe & Africa. In other words, in an operational environment.
- Extensive experience in Environmental and workplace assessments including noise, water risk management, vibration (whole body & hand arm), hazardous materials, gases, vapours, radiation, etc.
- Source of Professional Expert Witness services to numerous legal firms over a number of years with a high success rate achieved through mediation & negotiation based on case-review reports produced.
- Academic and vocational qualifications to supplement this experience, particularly in Water Chemistry & Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science and Radiological Protection. This includes post grad certification in Legionella Risk Management in water systems and the new P601 competency certificate promoted by the HSE on workplace control.
- Skilled at developing hazardous substance exposure control & management system strategies for a range of environments including remote locations through robust OHID / HRA frameworks.
- Corporate member of The Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, Royal Society of Chemistry, E.U. Chartered Scientist, PG Diploma in Occupational Hygiene, and Current Oil & Gas Topic Group Chairman for BOHS.
- Part of the HSE review workgroup developing COSHH Essentials for Offshore Oil & Gas operations.

- Mentoring and guiding those within the organisation and with clients including training in aspects of exposure monitoring and method selection for dust, gases, vapours, fumes and physical agents such as noise & vibration. This includes determining external training needs and provision of laboratory services to the organisation and also includes validation of some methods for monitoring in the workplace as well as understanding the chemistry involved in method selection.
- Participating in the organisation of the annual conference in Occupational Hygiene (BOHS) three years out of the last 5 including chairing sessions and reviewing papers submitted for presentation.
- Organising and chairing international conference on exposure monitoring techniques in Dubai (2008) & Abu Dhabi (2014-16 – worker health protection) as well as setting up a study into UK training standards for hazardous substances being exported to the Gulf Region.

- Developed strategies for hazardous substance exposure management in remote locations (Algeria -2005 to date, ongoing, Shipping fleets 2006 & still ongoing, Azerbaijan 2006 - 2012, Qatar 2006, Albania 2009 and Iraq 2011).
- Developing and improving the Standards in Respirator Selection, use and in particular Face Fit Testing through the framework of “fit-2-fit” training and accreditation.
- Decommissioning strategy planning for Asbestos Materials for the Norwegian sector (2008 – 2009) & UK section through Oil & Gas UK OH Technical committee (member).
- Platform compliance standard monitoring and advice for the Norwegian sector (Prosafe, Total & ConocoPhillips) including a working knowledge of NORSOK standards for the working environment including noise, vibration and air quality.
