During my time with WT my own project workload included managing up to one hundred projects at one time along with my daily staff management responsibilities and developing new business and new clients. I also contracted out and managed projects using other Sub-Contract Consultants where there is a need for specialised input to support a Client’s bespoke requirements. Specialist areas included H&S advice for legal compliance across a diverse range of environments and industries, provision of complete bespoke H&S systems and procedures for Clients, CDM Consultancy/Principal Designer services for CDM projects, asbestos surveys and management plans, provision of face to face and online accredited training packages as well as acting as an expert witness in H&S personal injury claims. |
Associate Director - Tweeds (WYG) | 06.2006 - 09.2013 | Role had three main functions: H&S Consultant, CDM Coordinator and the Business Unit IMS Manager. I was the Regional Head for the Midlands and Central areas for both Tweeds and WYG Management Services for H&S consultancy services and CDM Coordination operating out of the Birmingham & Liverpool offices. Advised on all H&S business issues to ensure legal compliance. I supported clients across a variety of industrial sectors as required with H&S advice and guidance. Providing complete H&S services including (but not exclusively) site inspections, project and management system audits, risk assessments, method statements, fire risk assessments, COSHH assessments, manual handling assessments, noise surveys and specialist advice such as asbestos, CDM etc. Due to the large scale projects I was involved with I have audited, inspected and advised on Clients’ accredited HSE management systems, some of which are Blue Chip organisations and national leaders in their fields. As CDM Coordinator I provided the lead CDM-C service for the Midlands and Central regions handling the larger CDM projects including the Birmingham New Hospital Joint Venture project (£650M), MOD Borona Stafford project (£150M), MOJ Featherstone Prison project (£200M), Birmingham Jewellery Quarter re-generation project (£170M), Northampton MH Hospital project (£25M), Birmingham University (£25M) etc. I also covered smaller projects across the region including new build projects, demolitions, highways, power installations and upgrades, refurbishments and refit projects. Within this role I managed teams of CDM Coordinators as individual project requirements dictated. As the Integrated Management Systems Manager for the WYG Management Services national business unit I managed the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental systems for approximately 300 employees across all the Tweeds/WYG UK offices. The business unit included project management, property management, quantity surveyors, construction projects, engineering and health and safety divisions. The quality (9001), H&S (18001) and Environment (14001) systems were externally accredited and the role involved training of Tweeds/WYG employees, coordinating training needs, continually developing management systems, carrying out audits, completing quarterly reports and liaising with external auditing bodies. |
